Wedding lighting can play a very important part in styling your day and setting a mood. I’ve had a good few weeks now with my 4 year old son talking on an on about fairy lights over the Christmas period (he’s fixated on lights) so I decided to turn my attention to wedding lighting.
Whether you’re looking to create a romantic feel for your ceremony to creating a party in the evening, the right lighting can really help. You may find some venues are restricted on what lighting you can hire in or create yourself but it’s always worth asking. If you’re having a barn wedding or marquee wedding then you may find you have free reign with your wedding lighting!
The above letter lights are a great way to bring lighting into any wedding venue and look great for your evening party photos! They’re modern and fun and really help personalise your wedding especially when you chose to use your initials as the letters. Many hire companies will hire these letters out so don’t worry you shouldn’t have to buy them – unless you want to have them in your new house of course!
This gorgeous fairy light canopy by Oakwood Events works lovely in a barn setting. It’s a lovely subtle way of bringing light to an otherwise dark space and if the barn has lofty beams then these strings of fairy lights work really well to show the rustic nature of a barn wedding.
This is another great example of using fairy lights for barn wedding lighting. The lights are twisted around the beams and the bigger lanterns in the centre create a lovely focal point. If you don’t have the means or the budget to change the main lighting for your wedding then you could consider using lanterns on tables or window ledges. Always check with your venue as some don’t allow candles so you may need to look into getting some little LED tealights to fill your lanterns.
If you’re lucky enough to have an outdoor setting for your ceremony or reception then outdoor wedding lighting can look amazing especially when hung from trees and branches. It can also give you some great backdrops for your photographs. I especially like the lightbulbs hanging down amongst branches above the tables, very atmospheric! And the final image with the string lights in the trees creates a very pretty picture.
