Modern calligraphy is my latest obsession! It all started after I did a workshop last year with the fantastic Emerald Paper Design in Cheltenham. It was a lovely (rare, child-free) evening at the Bottle of Sauce pub and I learnt a lot about calligraphy and gained some confidence in my abilities!
I have to admit I struggle to find the time to practice my calligraphy and it certainly requires a lot of practice! With 2 young children and a business to run I don’t get to do as much as I would like. It’s a very relaxing and rewarding craft and it’s hard to put in to words the satisfaction I get from practicing with a lovely new ink. I purchased some gorgeous colours from Quill London, my favourite being the teal colour shown in the photos.
I recently had the pleasure of using my new found calligraphy skills on a couple’s wedding invitations. They wanted a very simple, clean design finished with metallic lettering. I was very pleased with the end result and I’ll hopefully be able to share some photos with you soon.
I’m sure I have a lot more to learn and plenty of nibs to try but I’m excited to be bringing my new hobby into my wedding stationery. Watch this space for more information on my hand calligraphy wedding stationery options. Please contact me if you would like to know more.
